We are Still Alive and Kicking….

Well Everyone,

We have not died.  We arrived in Swaziland Saturday night.  We met with Bruce and Carol.  We got to our home.  It is beautiful.  It is nestled high in the Swazi mountains.  Unfortunately on the second day, we lost our electricity.  We ate our dinner by the light of a solar lantern and went to bed at dark (about 7:30 pm).  The next day we bought more electricity (it is prepay here).  That night as we were trying to get our internet up we lost our phone line.  Our internet service is only dial-up, so we lost that too.  We found out today that someone stole the phone lines (assumedly for copper).  Don’t know when we will get phone service today.  We are still without a car so we must depend on the other missionaries to get around much.  We went into town today and bought a cell phone (only local).  Excuse us for not communicating.  Hopefully it will improve soon.  I am working on sending back an SD card with some pictures and video. I have already preached a couple times.  I will teach my first classes on Thursday.  The kids are doing fine. Homeschooling is really a challenge with three kids (all at different places and Lori and I have NO experience).  We attended church Sunday.  I think I will be preaching at the prison (death row) on Sunday.  Caleb will come along.  I gotta run.  I am using a missionaries computer and someone just arrived.  I need to sign off.

Keep us in your prayers.  It has been a tough week.

Jim

Hello all………so good to hear from you. You know mom’s middle name is “worrywart”. Sounds like you have hit some “sticks in the road” in Africa, but we know that all will work out with God on your side. It surely doesn’t sound anything like here in Tennessee. Tell Madison, Josh and Caleb we sure do miss them and love them. That goes for the two of you also. Copper is doing okay. He plays with his rubber bone when he gets too frustrated. He throws it in the air, and jumps around. Got a call from Janice this A.M., and she and Rosie have made airline reservations to fly down on May 12 into Nashville. We and the U.S. in total, are expecting a big weather event. They said it would be the worst storm to ever hit Chicago. Jim, you and Caleb be careful at the prison. All of you be safe, and may God watch over you. Love Mom and Dad
